Job Description:

The Geospatial Data Storage Engineer is focused on GEOINT data holdings and data services within an enterprise geospatial database. Working with GEOINT SMEs, Geospatial Data Storage Engineer validates, identify and resolve discrepancies of the data and metadata. They work in coordination with data loaders and support the Database Manager, System Administrators, and Database Administrators to ensure data accessibility and availability for users of the system.

The Geospatial Data Storage Engineer focuses on acquisition, maintenance, and dissemination of data in support GEOINT activities. The Geospatial Data Storage Engineer is responsible for ensuring that records / info management objectives are met. They develop and interpret policy, procedures and guidelines for implementing system wide data management across the enterprise system. Geospatial Data Storage Engineer ensures economy and efficiency in creation, use, maintenance and disposition of data. They develop and provide training and guidance for the analysts.


Required Skills:

  • Must demonstrate experience in the following software but not limited to:
    • ArcGIS 9.x/10.x
    • ArcSDE 
    • Metadata
    • ArcGIS Server
    • Image Server Extension
    • Geoprocessing Script Development (VBA, Python, Model Builder, .Net Addin)
  • Must have 3+ years of experience working with geodatabases, large flat file vector data, and raster (images, grids, matrix) data in an enterprise/personal geospatial database structure.  Must have hands on experience managing QA/QC of geospatial databases and datasets.  Must have experience working with metadata and creating metadata templates.

Location: Springfield, VA

Degree: The successful individual must possess a B.S. degree in Geography/GIS, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline and at least 5 years of experience.  An ideal candidate may substitute a degree with 4 years of working experience mentioned in the job description.
Clearance: Positions require a Top Secret/SCI security clearance, based on current background investigation (SBI).  Clearance processing will be completed by the U.S. Government.
