  • Overview

    The UX Designer will support our Sentinel client in a rapid web application development project utilizing leading-edge technologies. They will employ Lean User Experience (UX) practices and apply visual design expertise on applications within the scope of the contract in order to achieve the contract goals.


    The Usability Engineer will: 

    • Design and conduct usability tests to determine deliverables’ accuracy to functional requirements.
    • Create Lean prototypes and interaction models (affordable low-tech models, such as wire-frames, are acceptable), and validate them by gathering feedback and testing (qualitative and quantitative) with users.
    • Design develop, test, and implement intuitive navigation structures, information architectures, and user interfaces using user-centered or task/goal-directed design principles and UI best practices.
    • Conduct usability and content analysis.
    • Maintain design consistency throughout applications, and where feasible among portfolios of applications, and if possible between portfolios.
    • Conform with Sentinel graphical design styles that appeal to users to the extent possible and feasible given rapidly evolving platforms. 
    • Interact with customers and product managers to help identify usability issues.
    • Define and evolve the evaluation methodologies used to test products.
    • Run usability tests, conduct interviews and site visits, organize surveys, and perform other usability assessments.
    • Conduct user field research to understand target segments and refine representative user persona's.
    • Help the development team interpret and understand user feedback, and provide input for design decisions based on that feedback.
    • Prepare and present research reports and recommendations based on findings.


    • Strong experience designing, conducting, and analyzing product usability studies.
    • 5-7  years of demonstrated user testing and research experience for commercial products and/or services.
    • Enthusiasm and flexibility to work on a variety of projects and balance needs of concurrent projects.
    • Ability to rapidly acquire new domain familiarity.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • BA/BS or MA/MS (preferred) in Human Factors, Cognitive or Behavioral Science, Human Computer Interaction, Human Centered Design, Information Systems, related discipline or equivalent experience.
    • Experience evaluating mobile applications, mobile web sites, or small screen applications a plus.
    • Additional years of experience, training and certifications will be considered in lieu of a degree.


    Degree:  Bachelor's degree and minimum of 10 years of full life-cycle recruiting experience. 


    Clearance Requirement: Top Secret security clearance preferred but not required.
