The Space Systems Test Engineer (SSTE) will collaborate with a team of software and hardware engineers in the complete development life cycle of a spacecraft instrument test program (SITP). The SITP will include the development of component and subsystem prototype test plans and procedures, the design and fabrication of subsystem test beds for performance and design verification, the design and fabrication of production manufacturing test systems for fabrication validation, and the development of a full instrument test bed to qualify the spacecraft instrument for space flight. The full instrument test bed will also be used as part of a larger test and integration environment that will support spacecraft level testing activities, including mission simulation.
The SSTE will be responsible for generating test plans and procedures according to accepted industry standards and practices. Design responsibilities include any required custom board and system design for test equipment when necessary. The SSTE will be responsible for managing budget and schedule, and directing fellow engineers in the production of SSTE hardware and software.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, have strong leadership and organizational skills and demonstrate a capability to synthesize detailed requirements from high level system performance goals.
Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance. Active TS/SCI strongly preferred.
