Overview

Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for operating systems, workstations and servers.
  • Under limited supervision, performs complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
  • Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions of varying complexities.
  • Ensures data/media recoverability by developing and implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
  • Plans and implements the modernization of servers.
  • Develops, implements and promotes standard operating procedures and schedules.
  • Conducts hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.

Qualifications

 

  • Associates Degree in Computer Science required, Bachelor’s degree preferred, a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Five (5) years related systems administration experience.
  • Broad general IT knowledge to research, evaluate, and implement new technologies and processes that improve security, availability, standardization, and centralization.
  • Specific network engineering experience to implement and manage LAN/WAN/VLAN systems.
  • Experience supporting both Linux and Windows (2008/2012) environments.
  • Experience with VMWare and other virtualization software.
  • Experience with SANs a plus.

Clearance
