KeyW’s Survey and Exploration Systems Segment is seeking a highly motivated, experienced Product Engineer to work between the Engineering Departments and the Production Departments to transition first article systems into products ready for low rate production. As a member of the Production Service Center, the Product Engineer will be responsible for transitioning engineering design specifications into reproducible products maintaining the procurement specifications, assembly work instructions, acceptance test procedures to create a product production data package. He or she will work with the vendors and manufacturers’ representatives to establish a supply chain that achieves performance specifications, reliability, maintainability, sustainability and quality requirements. The successful candidate will provide recommendations for improvement in system design, assembly and test processes through the use of critical thinking, creative design skills and demonstration of an overall understanding of system design as well as the assembly and test procedures. The candidate will also participate in change control and product improvement processes.
This position is located in the at KeyW’s Severn MD facility.
The primary responsibility of the product engineer is to create a product development package, consisting of specifications, assembly instructions, test procedures and quality control methods that fulfills the technical needs of the customer while integrating the goals of marketing, sales and manufacturing departments for a long term, sustainable product. He or she will work with the design, engineering, production and quality control teams to meet the project objectives in a timely and cost effective manner. The candidate will investigate ways to build common modules, supplier and production steps. The candidate will also create and implement test plans and procedures and validate results against specifications and specific performance metrics. Travel to visit with vendors is required (up to 20%).
